TEACHING AND RESEARCH FACILITIES
The facilities available for research in the department include rock and mineral specimens of all ages from different geological terrains of Nigeria, radar imageries, scanning electron microscope, atomic absorption spectrophotometer, flame photometer, resistivity meter, auto-compaction machine, uniaxial compression machine, oedometer, CBR machine, rock-coring and thin-sectioning facilities, general soil test equipment, map printing and reduction machines, well-equipped departmental library, hardware and software computing facilities, a field vehicle, etc.
PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
The department has four general teaching laboratories that are well-equipped. These are Petrology, Geochemistry, Remote Sensing and the always-busy Engineering Geology / Hydrogeology laboratories. The department also has specialized active sections like the Data Processing Room, Scanning Electron Microscope Room, Departmental Library, etc.

Over the years, alumni of the department, working in different parts of the world, have formed a virile association with the sole aim of assisting the department to continue to realize its objectives. Endowments have been made within the department by some members of this association. Several projects, billed for execution by the association, are underway within the department.
